SCHOOL BUS DRIVER

Work with LAUSD's Transportation Services Division.

School Bus Drivers are our students' transportation to graduation.

WHO WE ARE

LAUSD’s Transportation Services Division supports the District's academic programs by providing safe, dependable, and cost-efficient transportation services. The Division strives for 100% on-time arrival of school buses to pick-up and drop-off students.

WHAT WE DO

LAUSD provides transportation to approximately 40,000 students through various programs. To provide this service, the Division runs more than 1800 daily bus routes during the school year and approximately 700 routes during the summer. In addition to core services, the Transportation Division provides approximately 41,000 supplemental trips for program and athletic support each year. In total, the Division’s buses drive over 20.5 million miles annually. The Transportation Division also manages 3,500 of the Districts operational and administrative vehicles at five major garages.

School Bus Drivers (both Heavy Bus Drivers and Light Bus Drivers) safely transport students to and from school and various school-related activities. Drivers also perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections, ensuring their school bus is clean and well maintained.  School Bus Drivers assist students with loading and unloading the school busses and enforces appropriate student behavior and safe riding practices on the bus.

WHERE WE WORK

Bus Drivers spend the majority of their time transporting students on buses, although some will make initial and final inspections at LAUSD’s bus lots and will carry out administrative functions at these lots as well.
